Hellios: Mav, Will, (George)
Drakon: Matt L, (Pedro, Ryan)

Darker skies -

After weeks of development 3.2 is almost ready to be released! A universal restart is required unfortunately but the new improvements and overhauls to large parts of the game this is the most comprehensive patch since 2.5.
Co-conspiritor Will Bennett is behind some of the most interesting new additions including many of the planet-side vehicles that have been added in the new patch.
Here is an overview of the new additions and edits(that I can remember):

  • Penalties for Overuse/failing to cast magic have now been officially defined
  • Ammunition has been added properly into the system (despite it being used since 2.7)
  • The to hit system has changed slightly, weapon accuracy is now out of 5 rather than 10 meaning that it will be easier to hit fast craft, this was also done to match up to the planet-side vehicle hit system.
  • Planet-side vehicles(Walkers, Crawlers and Flyers), equipment and upgrades have been added and costed.
  • Additional weapons have been added for increased character diversity, new spears and shotguns.
  • Athlete class has been replaced with the new 'Adventurer' class (retaining the same class advantage and disadvantages).
  • Class levelled abilities have been added to the system (based on the scribblings I made for the lost 2.9 rule-set)
  • The cost of some weapons has changed - Pulse rifle was 3650 and is now 3600, Lightning Glaive was 3600 and is now 3550 and the Sniper rifle was 3550 and is now 3500
  • The Phaze claw effect has been properly defined (it was implied and roleplayed before but never specified in the rule-set) - On hit, roll d6, on the roll of a 4+ half your target’s speed(rounded up) next turn.
  • Faction descriptions have been changed and increased in depth, a new faction has been added 'The Foxnet Syndicate'
  • The 'Turn into a captain' option on each race has been removed and a new section has been added called 'Retainers' which essentially replaces the captain upgrade with a more detailed and useful option.
  • The BHI table has been updated to reflect the ships added in 3.0
  • The shield and hull mechanics have been explained, the Hull mechanic was overhauled
  • New shield and hull types have been added
  • Vim abilities will be displayed (they were previously missing from the rule-set.)
  • The rule-set has had a massive layout and formatting change to make it easier for the players and GMs alike.

Aya's Chosen: Honour's End (Working title) -

Development schedule has been decided release of the ruleset is due for March 2013 this date may change depending on how the development goes and the weather when I need to playtest the system.
Each clan and house has been given a toke colour, players must represent this in their clothing, hair and now in their warpaint:
Tribal facepaint has been created for each clan and house.

A new land to discover!

Development has started on a new LARP!

Name is yet to be decided, but here are a few of the possibilities

  • War of the 5
  • Tales of Avayandria
  • The Shadow Era: Fall of Aya
  • Crown of Kings: Battle for Avayandria
  • Crown of Chains
  • Last of the Chevaak
  • Honour's demise
  • The Death of Chivalry: The Siege of Jur'Uketh
  • Aya's Chosen: Exodus
The new LARP is set in a fantasy land known as Avayandria (in the native tongue it means 'Homeland of those faithful to Aya)

Map of Avayandria:

There is only one playable race, humans.
there are 8 'factions' to join which determines what your capabilities are and how much gold you start with.

The Houses of Avayandria:

House of Serin:

The Current royal family and descendants of the first Avayandrian King Mithras, these northerners worship the element of light, and are the chief defenders of the goddess Aya. Faith and courage is their defence, Aya favours the brave. Members of the House of Serin are the best Paladins and Priests of all Avayandria. The Serin family have a lot to live up to, and a lot of pressure on them to deliver the Avayandrian people to victory, once the richest family in the known world the House of Serin now stand close to bankruptcy, much of their gold, prominent family members and halls lost to the barbarian invaders.

House of Yal'Kirath:

Descendants of the first Chevtaaki King, Chev'Kirath, the most ruthless and unforgiving of all the great houses in Avayandria, the house of Yal'Kirath worship the destructive force of Fire. Ambitious and begrudging the members of this house often raid and destroy foreign villages, rival's villages, neutral villages, travelling caravans and Inns that don't give the House of Yal'Kirath a discount. Yet when Avayandria needs them they are the first to answer the call to war, bloodthirsty and keen to impress the House of Yal'kirath are excellent Sorcerors and Berserkers.

House of Tyorak:

Descendants of the kings of D'landria the House of Tyorak ride from the east of Avayandria, on the eastern winds they fly, skilled archers and corsairs the House of Tyorak revere the wind above all else and despite their generally rough appearance, they , troublesome but loyal the House of Tyorak are ones to watch.

House of Potenit:

Descendants of the kings of Potenia and Palitonia the house of Potenit revere the element of earth and trust in the strength of a shield or fortress wall, they were the last defenders of Jur'Uketh in the Swords Era when the D'landrians besieged the great city. They are the best Vindicators and Warriors in the land.

House of Bulgruum:

The house of Bulgruum are descendants of the kings of Forizar, the southern deserts and coastline, they worship the element of water, source of all life. The House of Bulgruum are keen sailors and excellent swimmers. The house of Bulgruum are the best merchants and are keen political activists, pushing for their own ideas to be heard by the king making them the best Magistrates.

Barbarian clans:

Charging across the eastern border these barbarians love nothing more than to slay their enemies face to face, they make excellent Warriors and Berserkers.

Yrrhinics are the western clans that charge through Tol'Nodar towards the capital, so far the most successful of the invaders the Yrrhinics are well versed in the ways of magic and stalwart defence, the Yrrhinics are the most civilised of the invaders. They make the excellent Sorcerers and Vindicators.

Halorrfs are the sea peoples who raid and sometimes trade from the south, using their well built ships to out manoeuvre the Avayandrian navy they evade the army and strike the common man, well known to be excellent Corsairs and shrewd Brokers.

The classes are what determine your stats, further details of classes and abilities will be posted in the next few weeks including information on 'specialisation' benefits, and weapon specific skills/effects

New tool added

Added a new tool to the broken history page on the website, Character Gen tool!

Choose a faction and click the button, your starting wealth, claim to the throne character effects and standing in society will be listed before you don't like the result? Reset and try again!

The tool generates a character out of the following 6 social classes present in Broken History:

  • Peasant - lowest class, poor.
  • Bourgeois - peasant but rich.
  • Minor Noble - Low ranking noble, poorer than the other nobles.
  • Prominent Noble - Rich noble.
  • Ancient Royal Line - Once this family ruled the land, now they have lost it, but remain within nobility carefully watching for signs of weakness in the monarchy.
  • Current Royal Family - A member of the Monarch's close family and highest ranking nobles in the land, rich, influencial and not to be trifled with.

This tool is intended to help you do two things:

  1. Get a grips on the different character starting types, including available funds advantages and disadvantages.
  2. When the official campaign starts each player will roll their character using this tool or via dice roll (Tool is the preferred option)

See it here!

Clasp Larp system is about to be jiggled, Planned upgrades to it are:

  • A rebalance of item costs

  •  Additional abilities in the strategy school

    • Avatar System tree
